Ayecha Curricular
Development Project and Educators Conference:
The goal for Ayecha’s
Curricular Development Project is to create a Jewish diversity resource
for educators that can be utilized across various Jewish disciplines and
subjects to explore the topics of Jewish cultural diversity; intra-group
relations; and the subject of inclusion and welcome of “difference” in
the home, synagogue and community.
The expected outcome
for this theme-based curriculum is its wide use and availability as an
educational resource for teaching Jewish diversity and increasing
awareness of the wide and varying identities and cultures that
constitute modern-day Jewry.
Teachers of various
disciplines will be able to adapt the Jewish diversity exercises
provided by this publication to the specifics of their subjects. Through
use of this curriculum teachers will assist students in beginning a
lifelong journey toward respect and appreciation for the many dimensions
of Jewish life and living.
In August 2007 Ayecha
will host a Jewish Diversity Symposium for Educators that will highlight
the work of this curriculum and offer additional opportunities for
networking and professional development in the area of Jewish Diversity.
